Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Kentucky JOAD Program Boost Competitive Fire

The Lancaster Archery Foundation awarded a grant to a Kentucky JOAD program looking to boost its ability to prepare young archers for serious competition.

The In Range JOAD program of Richmond, Kent., received $1,000 from the foundation to put toward targets and awards.

“We would like to order pins through USA Archery and have a monthly pin test for our archers to earn different levels,” program officials wrote.

“This encourages competition and readies them for tournaments. We are also looking to grow our 3D animal targets so we have more for them to practice with. Finally, a quick refresh of target faces for indoor and outdoor bales for single spot, 3-spot and recurve faces are needed.”

Rob Kaufhold, president of the Lancaster Archery Foundation board of directors, applauded the In Range JOAD officials for providing incentives and tests that encourage young archers to sharpen their competitive skills.

“Instilling that competitive drive at an early age can carry over for a lifetime,” Kaufhold said. “The foundation is determined to help increase the number of competitive archers in the United States. That competitive fire starts in programs like In Range Archery JOAD’s.”

Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
