Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Kansas Archery Team Provide Introductory Gear
The Lancaster Archery Foundation has awarded a grant to help a well-established archery club in Kansas get new equipment for beginners to help bring in first-time archers.
Cyclones Archery Team of Ottawa, Kansas, received $1,000 from the foundation to put toward the acquisition of some Genesis bows, outdoor targets and backstop netting.
The Cyclones have an active team, with young archers competing in indoor, 3-D and field archery tournaments. To help draw new members, the nonprofit team runs beginner archery programs at the local fair.
“We have a problem with starter equipment,” organizers wrote. “Several younger shooters don’t have funds for equipment so we would use funds to have team equipment they can use at each practice and shooting event.”
Rob Kaufhold, president of Lancaster Archery Foundation’s board of directors, said helping clubs bring first-timers into the sport is at the core of the foundation’s mission.
“Growing the sport of archery means introducing it to people who wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to it,” he said. “The Cyclones are doing that in Kansas and we are happy to support their efforts.”
Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
