Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Nebraska Program Attract New Archers
The Lancaster Archery Foundation has awarded a grant to a Nebraska 4-H club looking to make archery accessible to more kids.
The Cass County Clovers 4-H Club of Louisville, NE, received $1,000 from the foundation to buy some NASP gear for its programs.
The Clovers offer a variety of shooting programs and they see a lot of interest in archery, but many of those kids can’t affords their own equipment.
“We would like to have new members come in and enjoy practice without having to worry about that,” club organizers said. “Or be deterred from coming to practice because they don’t have their own equipment…Currently we are all sharing our own personal equipment.”
The Clovers hopes to acquire some Genesis bow packages and NASP youth targets, so there is gear available for anyone to use.
Rob Kaufhold, president of Lancaster Archery Foundation’s board of directors, said he appreciates the Clovers leaders offering up their own equipment to prospective new archers.
“But if we can help the club have its own gear dedicated just for the kids, that’s definitely the best route for everyone,” he said. “If you can get these kids started early in archery, they’re more likely to be archers for life.”
Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
