Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps ‘Long Shots’ Develop Competitive Archers

The Lancaster Archery Foundation is helping a Missouri youth program dive head first into target archery.

Northwest Missouri Long Shots in Helena, Mo., received a $5,000 grant from the foundation under the Growing Youth Archery Together program. The money is intended for buying a variety of equipment aimed at competition archery.

The Long Shots program is a registered S3DA affiliate that provides an array of archery activities, including outdoor target archery and 3D archery. Indoor target archery is next on the itinerary.

With the foundation grant, the Long Shots plan to buy range shot-timer clocks, a bow press, Genesis bows and arrows, targets and other gear.

“This grant would significantly contribute to the realization of our vision and the holistic growth of our youth archery program,” Long Shots officials wrote on their grant application.

Rob Kaufhold, president of the Lancaster Archery Foundation board of directors, is proud the foundation can help the Long Shots promote competition archery.

“One of the core goals of the foundation is to help introduce kids to competition archery in particular,” he said. “We want more kids to pick up archery as a competitive sport, just like any other kids’ sport.”

Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
