Veteran PA Club Gets Boost from Lancaster Archery Foundation for Outdoor Target Archery
The Lancaster Archery Foundation is helping a veteran Pennsylvania archery club expand its target archery facilities.
Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club in New Tripoli, Pa., was awarded $5,000 by the foundation through its Growing Youth Archery Together program to put towards an outdoor target field.
The club, which currently offers S3DA and JOAD programs, has been offering youth archery for the past 22 years. It hopes to use the foundation grant to help pay for 16 target matts and lumber and hardware to build stands to hold the targets for outdoor target archery.
“The targets will allow for the JOAD team to host outdoor tournaments next spring and summer, further expanding their funding,” the club’s grant application states.
“Without them, our team members will be at a disadvantage and possibly lose archers we develop to other programs,” the club’s grant application states.”
Rob Kaufhold, president of the Lancaster Archery Foundation board of directors, applauded Ontelaunee’s efforts to expand offering for outdoor target archery – especially since the club is not far from the Lancaster Archery Supply headquarters.
“It will be great to see young target archers being developed right here in our backyard,” he said. “We look forward to hosting them at our own tournaments in years to come.”
Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
