Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Louisiana 4-H Program Continue its Archery Outreach

The Lancaster Archery Foundation is helping a Louisiana 4-H program acquire new targets so it can continue its outreach to local kids interested in archery.

Assumption Parish 4-H Shooting Sports of Napoleonville, La., received $1,000 from the foundation to put toward buying 3-D and paper targets needed for practice sessions and competitions hosted by the program.

Assumption holds weekly practice and instruction sessions, along with a variety of local and state competitions, with a goal of providing access to and opportunity for learning the sport of archery.

Club organizers told the foundation the grant award will help “provide equipment we would otherwise be unable to purchase in order to motivate continued participation and also help build interest for new participants to join.”

Rob Kaufhold, Lancaster Archery Foundation president, said its local grassroots programs like Assumption Parish 4-H Shooting Sports that are critical to casting the widest net possible to reach kids who might be interested in archery.

“You never know where the next Olympic champion might come from,” he said. “If kids don’t have the opportunity to get involved in archery, how will they ever find out if they’re interested in it?”

Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
