Missouri Youth Club Gets Foundation Help in Buying New 3D Targets
A Missouri youth archery club has received a grant from the Lancaster Archery Foundation that it plans to use to buy 3-D targets in hopes of keeping its members on the line shooting.
Lights Out Archery Club of Troy, Mo., was awarded a $1,000 grant from the foundation. The club, which offers memberships to archers age 18 and under, has an outdoor range that allows shooting out to 100 yards, and utilizes a local middle school gymnasium during the winter, when scheduling permits.
Lights Out has a few 3-D targets, but is seeking more so that more kids can shoot at one time.
“If Lights Out were able to secure the grant to purchase 3D targets for our youth, it will give more practice time and more experience for our youth,” club officials wrote on their grant application.
“The younger members get bored when down time occurs at practice, and increasing the availability of targets will reduce the boredom.”
Rob Kaufhold, president of Lancaster Archery Foundation, praised the Lights Out club leaders for their grassroots efforts to make archery available to the youths in their community.
“One of the best ways to create lifelong archers is to get kids started young shooting with their friends and family at the local club,” he said. “Once they’re hooked on it because it’s fun, chances are better that they’ll stick with archery for life.”
Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
