Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Tennessee Program Upgrade Equipment

The Lancaster Archery Foundation awarded a grant to a Tennessee archery program that provides NASP equipment to young archers attending its tournaments.

Whitworth Buchanan Archery of Murfreesboro, Tenn., received $1,000 from the foundation to upgrade and buy additional equipment for its tournament program.

The club hosts multiple NASP tournaments each year, at which participants can use Whitworth’s equipment if they don’t have their own.

“This has taken a toll on the equipment that we have and many of the targets and quivers need to be replaced,” club officials wrote on their grant application.

More new equipment means more opportunity to introduce kids to archery, according to the officials.

“By being able to secure more equipment, we would be able to host more archers at our tournaments, and hold more tournaments,” officials wrote.

NASP is the National Archery in the Schools Program, which is a vital gateway for introducing many kids to the sport of target archery.

“Anything we can do to help programs designed to draw kids to archery who might not otherwise have access to it is one of the most basic purposes of the foundation,” said Rob Kaufhold, the foundation president.
