Lancaster Archery Foundation Awards Grant to Help Philadelphia-area Group Bring Archery to Underprivileged Youth
Lancaster Archery Foundation awarded a grant to Snipes Farm and Education Center to help launch its brand-new youth archery program.
Located in Morrisville, Pa., just outside Philadelphia, Snipes Farm and Education Center provides summer camps to underprivileged children living in the area.
Lancaster Archery Foundation is providing $1,000 to the center for use in buying archery equipment needed to start an archery program.
Snipes works “with the local homeless shelter and other social service organizations to provide participation free of charge to needy and homeless children in our community,” the group said.
A goal is to “introduce target archery to children, youth and disadvantaged youth that they might be inspired to advance their skills, build self-confidence, enjoy fellowship and competitive archery interest,” the group said.
“We are well aware of the healing and character-building powers of archery, and are excited to be able to help the Snipes center offer this opportunity to young people who might not otherwise be exposed to archery,” said Rob Kaufhold, president of the Lancaster Archery Foundation.
