Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Kentucky Club Expand 3D Archery
Lancaster Archery Foundation awarded a grant to a Kentucky club that’s committed to producing future generations of 3D archers.
Central Kentucky JOAD received $1,000 from the foundation to help purchase a full range of the official Delta McKenzie targets used in S3DA and ASA competitions.
The club, based in Georgetown, Ky., recently added 3D archery as an offering to club members “to better prepare the archers for the collegiate level, where 3D is basically one-third of the competitive season,” club officials said.
“About 15 percent of our archers have joined the club specifically because we added 3D, A total of 65 percent of our club participates in the 3D practices and events.”
Buying a full range of ASA/S3DA targets would only help the club grow more and serve its membership better, officials said.
“With S3DA growing in Kentucky and the number of NASP archers in central Kentucky who shoot in the IBO 3D tournaments, to have a quality range setup would not only continue to support existing club archers who prefer 3D, but it also would attract new archers interested in 3D,” officials said.
Helping a local club grow and prepare young archers for collegiate-level competition and higher is at the core of Lancaster Archery Foundation’s mission.
“Providing this grant to Central Kentucky JOAD is right up our alley,” said Rob Kaufhold, foundation president.
“If they can produce some national competitors and attract new members, that’s going to be great for archery in that part of Kentucky.”
