Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Illinois Youth Group Create Big-Time Tournament Atmosphere
The Lancaster Archery Foundation has awarded a grant to an Illinois organization whose goal is to attract and retain youth competition archers.
The Youth Shooting Sports Association of Taylor Ridge, Ill., received $1,000 to buy a professional-grade, electronic time-keeping system that will raise the standards at the group’s tournaments.
“We have found over the years most archers love events if they are run efficiently, with quality tournament equipment and facilities,” organization officials said.
Youth Shooting Sports Association is a nonprofit, youth-only organization that offers archery programs through JOAD, 4-H, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
The group plans to use a new Chronotir 2C Electronic Timing System during regional 4-H tournaments “that should bring in many new shooters that have the potential of becoming lifelong shooters,” officials said.
“Every high-level tournament archer out there knows the sounds of the Chronotir buzzers,” said Rob Kaufhold, president of Lancaster Archery Foundation.
“It definitely creates the feel of a big-time tournament.”
