Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Wisconsin Group Help Kids Looking to College
Lancaster Archery Foundation has awarded a grant to an established Wisconsin youth program that’s working to help young people advance their education through archery.
The foundation awarded Wisconsin S3DA State Association $1,000, which will be used to buy target cores to repair old targets.
The LAS grant will allow the association to divert more funds toward its scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to archers who want to go to college.
The Wisconsin S3DA association consists of 21 clubs and five school teams. Its members compete in local, state and national S3DA tournaments.
Funding for the association comes from a variety of sources, including grants, tournament fees and raffles.
“By using funds from grant like this (from the LAS Foundation) we are able to provide more scholarships to more kids and increase the likelihood that they will continue to shoot and be involved with the sport for years to come,” association officials wrote in their grant application.
Motivating kids to go to college and compete in archery is one of the core missions of the Lancaster Archery Foundation, so awarding the Wisconsin S3DA grant was an easy decision, said Rob Kaufhold, the foundation’s president.
“The more people and organizations we have helping kids use archery to advance their education, the more young people we will have getting involved in archery,” he said.
