Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Montana S3DA Expand 3D Archery
The Lancaster Archery Foundation grant has awarded a grant to a young organization in Montana that is working to spread 3-D archery across the Treasure State and other parts of the West.
The Montana Scholastic 3-D Archery Association received $1,000 from the foundation, which the group hopes to use to buy equipment and educational materials to help it expand through the state.
“The Montana S3DA is in its first year of operation with two clubs currently in Montana,” said Jeremy Garness, Montana S3DA state coordinator.
“This last year we provided opportunity to over 70 Montana kids to compete in both the state and national S3DA virtual indoor tournaments. We also hosted the first ever 2021 western 3D national championship, where we hosted kids from Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Kansas.”
Montana S3DA has relied on archery clubs and organizations for targets and other equipment used in its programs, and the group is looking to acquire its own.
“Being able to purchase targets and educational items will allow us to give more opportunity to our youth in Montana, which in turn should help our current and future clubs grow,” Garness said.
Rob Kaufhold, president of Lancaster Archery Foundation, applauded the Montana S3DA’s efforts so far to bring more kids into archery, and said he’s excited the foundation can help the group do even more going forward.
“It’s great to see S3DA spreading across the West,” Kaufhold said.
