Lancaster Archery Foundation Provides Grant to PA S3DA

The Lancaster Archery Foundation has awarded a grant to Pennsylvania S3DA to help it expand its program and to increase youth participation in 3-D archery.

Pennsylvania Scholastic 3-D Archery Association received $1,000 from the foundation, which the organization hopes to use in one of a variety of ways.

The first idea is to establish a Pennsylvania S3DA scholarship fund to help young archers advance their education while continuing to participate in archery.

Another option is to use the funds to help create a Pennsylvania Shooter of the Year program, which would compel young archers to compete in multiple tournaments in order to be eligible for this award.

Both of these options could be modeled after similar national programs run by other organizations, according to Pennsylvania S3DA officials.

The last option for the grant money would be to purchase a complete range of Delta McKenzie targets to be used in S3DA regional and state tournaments.

Pennsylvania S3DA officials noted that most clubs in the organization use Rinehart targets, and so archers competing in the state rarely see the official Delta McKenzie targets used at national ASA and S3DA tournaments.

“Pennsylvania has done very well in national S3DA competitions during the five years we have been competing,” organization officials said.

“We feel being able to expose our archers to the Delta McKenzie targets prior to getting to nationals would be a very big help.”

With the Lancaster Archery Foundation being based in Pennsylvania, Rob Kaufhold, the foundation president, said the organization was thrilled to help local clubs help local archers.

“Pennsylvania is our backyard, and we look forward to seeing the state continue to produce some of the top 3-D archers in the country through the state’s S3DA program,” he said.

The Lancaster Archery Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding 3-D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through competitive archery.
