Lancaster Archery Foundation Helps Nevada S3DA Expand 3D Archery

The Lancaster Archery Foundation grant has awarded a grant to a fledgling Nevada club that hopes to bring 3-D archery to its corner of the West.

The Nevada Chapter of Scholastic Archery Association received $1,000 from the foundation, which the chapter hopes to use to buy equipment to help get its 3D program off the ground.

Based in Reno, Nevada, the Nevada S3DA is less than a year old. Chapter organizers said they want to add 3D archery to an existing JOAD program so young archers have the opportunity to experience different archery games.

Already the chapter has hosted 3D shoots for young archers, and has run a few “4D” archery events, which allow kids to participate virtually, without having to physically be at the chapter’s facilities.

“If we have more equipment, we can have more students,” organizers wrote on their grant application. “More students equal more teaching and more kiddos that want to learn. Word of mouth drives what we are able to teach, and the more we instruct, the more people want to come.

“We want to drive youth archery as high as we can… It’s about teaching kids and making kids live the dream that we as kids got to start.”

Rob Kaufhold, Lancaster Archery Foundation’s president, said one of the keys to growing the sport of archery is reaching into areas where it’s not readily available to the public.

“We know that if people have the opportunity to try archery, they’re going to love it the way we do,” he said. “The people in Nevada are helping us reach potential new archers at a young age, which is important to developing lifelong archers.”
